The Kaminarimon Gate is a large gate located in front of the Senso-ji Temple's Hozomon Gate in Asakusa, Tokyo. It stands at the entrance of the approach to the Hozomon Gate and is characterized by its red lantern and enormous wooden statues of the Niō guardians. It is one of the most representative tourist attractions in Tokyo. The lantern of the Kaminarimon Gate is approximately 4 meters high and weighs around 700 kilograms. It is adorned with illustrations of the gods of wind and thunder. Beyond the Kaminarimon Gate lies Nakamise-dori, the approach to the Hozomon Gate, which is lined with traditional Japanese souvenir shops and food stalls, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. To reach the main hall of the Senso-ji Temple, one must pass through Nakamise-dori. The approach from the Kaminarimon Gate to the Senso-ji Temple is a great place to experience traditional Japanese culture and immerse oneself in the energetic atmosphere of Asakusa, Tokyo.
